Taco Tuesday: Celestial Method

This week I finished watching Celestial Method, so I thought I would share my thoughts on it with you all because I was really entertained by this show.

It's such an adorable story but when you really get to the heart of it all it really makes you think and you realize that there are real issues happening here, which is sometimes hard to realize when you're watching anime's about kids in middle school. Celestial Method was able to turn that on it's head and not only make you think really deeply about this show, but also make your emotions run rampant.

The basic premise of the show is a young girl name Nonoka and her family used to live in Lake Kiriya until they had to move away, when she was seven, so that her mother could receive medical treatment for a life threatening illness. After her mother had passed away both Nonoka and her father returned to Lake Kiriya, unfortunately Nonoka had put all of her past memories behind her because she didn't like to think back on unpleasant times.

After she returns she is reunited with her childhood friends, Yuzuki, Koharu, Shione, and Sota who although they remember her, she is not certain who they are at first glance, and some, Shione, still harbor disillusioned ill will towards her.

After Nonoka is reunited with Noel, her childhood friend who has mysteriously not aged after seven years, we later find out that she is sort of an alien, and all of Nonoka's memories come flooding back, her memories of her mother, her friends, meeting Shione, and even when the five of them had attempted to summon a saucer to make their deepest wish come true.

Though there are some mishaps along the way, Nonoka and her friends finally learned the secret behind Noel's presence, that she is the saucer that has formed in the sky, and she is only there until all five of them can reunite and be happy together.

That does not sit well with Shione, who is the first to figure it out, and after spending just about the entire anime before she did end up making up with Nonoka, only to push her away again, so that they would not lose Noel. However, once she shares this truth with the rest of the group, they all decide that it's not fair for one person to have to bare the burden of leaving the group, so they all act coldly towards one another.

Every one in the group cannot help but adore Noel, and none of them wanted her to disappear after granting their wish, but unfortunately there is nothing they can do to stop it. And when they do finally realize that what Noel wants is to grant their wish, they all meet up again one last time so that they can see Noel off with a smile.

On a side note, can we all just look at how adorable Noel is?

If you're on the fence about this show, I recommend it even if it's just to see Noel get into her adorable mischief. Worth it.

Get ready to turn on the feels for the ending of Celestial Method, because it is a real tear jerker. It wasn't clear just how close these friends were and exactly how deeply they cared for each other until they dove into each other's past, and the true reasons why they all decided to summon the saucer in the first place.

For some reason, I was convinced that the show was over once Noel disappeared. Boy was I wrong, there was way more show. I was definitely a little put off by the last few episodes at first because I was not a fan of there just never being a saucer in the first place. It started out with Nonoka and her father returning to Lake Kiriya, but there was no saucer, and Nonoka appears to be the only one with any memory of Noel, but the idea of Noel left a sinking feeling in the hearts of all her friends.

Just when Nonaka thinks all hope is lost Shione comes back into town and tells Nonoka that she too remembers Noel. So with nothing but hope and the clothes on their back these two besties set out to bring back Noel, luckily, the remaining three oblivious friends start to remember Noel just as she returns to them after they re-summon the saucer.

I'd say my overall thoughts on the  show is that it is definitely a worthwhile watch if you're looking for a feel good show. The premise of the show can be a bit juvenile at times, however if you've been watching a string of serious or intense anime's, this is definitely one that you can add in there that will lift your spirits up. And it's definitely not too long at only thirteen episodes. Give this a watch! It gets the Andi-bun stamp of approval!

Am I Supposed To Be Intimidated?

So you know how in every show there's villains right? Well sometimes, villains fall short of my expectations and I tend to not have any respect for the. Here's a list of five "villains" I've come across that have just got me thinking, "WHY?!?!"

1. The President of the Tightrope Walking Club : Kill la Kill

I mean, yeah, he's huge, but size doesn't matter here. What are you gonna do? Embarrass the crap out of someone by proving to be a better tightrope walker than them?? Not impressed.

2. Machimiya Eikichi : Yowamushi Pedal

This guy hyped himself up so much, bragging about how he got second place the year before in the race and how he deserved to win so he was gonna over take the rascals and win the entire race. Homeboy was brought down after like two minutes... again, not a solid antagonist.

3. Anti Cosmo : Fairly Odd Parents

He may have a ton of nefarious plans, but I just can't even with his accent, and his monocle, and his color... I don't even know with this lil fella, he's more adorable to me than anything.

4. Kyubey : Madoka Magica

Kyubey mainly just freaks me out because he eats himself. I was never actually intimidated by any of his bullsh*t.

5. Medusa Gorgon : Soul Eater

She was too cute I could not even. She may have been somewhat of a threat at her normal size, but when she took over that toddler and became a toddler herself, I just could not help but think she was the most adorable thing I had seen all day.

First Impressions: Kill La Kill

I started Kill La Kill today, and even though I haven't gotten the chance to finish it quite yet, I thought I'd share my first impressions with you since I have seen about five episodes at this point. I think the best way to sum up what I've seen so far is through gifs. Because pictures do not do it justice, and since it would be ridiculous to just post all the episodes on here, I'll give you the next best thing.

So we start off with our main character Ryuko, a girl who has been going around to schools and starting fights so that she can learn who killed her father and find the missing half of her scissor blade. But she finally comes across Honnoji Academy, and meets the Empress, Satsuki, who she immediately has beef with, but I mean, it's justified, because you can just tell by looking at her that this chick knows some ish.

It's here that she meets Mako, a plucky young girl who is super friendly and weird, but proves time and time again that not only is she a true friend but she will go out of her way to help someone out.

I mean, I'm not kidding. Girl is weird as sh*t. But in a good way.

This is how everyone gets ready for school, no?

Fortunately for me, I've learned that you should always wear your sexy panties. You never know when this could happen to you.

Finally Ryuko comes across a uniform that was made by her father called a Kamui, that uses life fibers to enhance one's own powers as well as give them incredible ass kicking powers themselves.

And who happens to be the one that is willing to tell her the most about her Kamui and her deceased father? Well none other than the pervy, secretly handsome homeroom teacher.

Luckily, she's got Mako to keep her sane in the mean time right? Well maybe not, but she does house Ryuko, which is probably more helpful anyways.

Who should challenge Ryoko, if not the captain of the tennis team. Scary, right?

Comin' in clutch. Defending the bestie.

And here, we learned that in order to unleash all the powers of a Kamui, you need to be chill getting almost completely naked, luckily no one there is chubby or ashamed of their bod.

I kind of want a watch like that, like for real. Can someone give me one?

This is pretty much the lowdown of what happens to Ryuko every time she gives her uniform her blood and it gives her power.

Now, obviously, I did miss some key elements in my recap of what I've seen. But that would spoil it too much for the people. And I only give out spoilers once I finish a show. On a more serious note, this show is still keeping my interest, so I'm definitely going to see this to fruition.

A Certain Scientific Railgun

A Certain Scientific Railgun is definitely one of the better spin offs that I've ever seen/ read in my time. I say this because a show actually finally picked a character that not only was very strong, but who also had an interesting enough story line to stand on its own. I definitely do think that Railgun could stand alone and is definitely a show that you could watch without needing to see A Certain Magical Index.

I have started this show twice, once, I watched the first two episodes and was put off by Kuroko Shirai and her weirdness, but eventually I was able to overcome it and power through the show, and I'm definitely glad that I did because I really do like it.

It definitely starts out a little slow since they're just trying to introduce all these characters that were either not shown in Index, or were not as prominent as say Kamijo and Index. But from there it does manage to pick up, coming up with story lines that lie parallel to Kamijo's story from Index.

Speaking of Kamijo, I did think it was kind of funny that they managed to make him look like just a totally casual dude who never really does anything of note until the final arc. The same thing kind of happened to Misaka in Index, but she gave off such an attitude that you could tell she wasn't just a casual human, not to mention she's ranked third among all the espers... so I would think that she wouldn't just sit around and do nothing.

Also, let's just talk about how cool it is that this show has a main character that is not only a female, but is also super OP. That really doesn't happen that much, normally the girls start out as weak and then get much stronger, or they start out as super strong but then they show that they have a weakness. And while Misaka does definitely show weakness, there is never a point where her own weakness paralyzes her so much that she can't go on. And I'm a huge fan of that.

Relatable content: don't mess with a sister's eyebrows. Like, what even was that first arc, a girl went on a date with a jerk who thought her brows looked a little wonky and laughed at her?? Then she made it her mission to ruin the eyebrows of pretty girls everywhere... totally casual right? Maybe this is the reason that there are so many eyebrow tutorials on youtube, so that we can stop this kind of disaster, one janky set of brows at a time. Also, it was totally not fair, at least Miho had her jacked up bangs to cover her brows, but what about Saten and Mitsuko? How long did they have to deal with that crap??

Another thing that this show did well was address people who were low level or even level zero espers and their want to gain more power. It was one of those things that I didn't necessarily think about all too much, I mean it did cross my mind occasionally, but not a lot. But when it was brought up as like a serious thing that people were doing until they passed out into a coma, I was like, man, I'm glad they talked about this, because there's no way that no one in this whole town was trying to increase levels so that they could move up in ranks. And I totally related with Saten's efforts to gain powers because she was a level zero. Also, I'm a little salty that no one slapped the stupid mug right off that crazy ho... they were just like, 'oh, she's suffered a lot', she's been punished enough.

Definitely throughout the whole show my favorite arc was the sisters arc. I liked how it showed the other side what went down in Index and even though I didn't think that it was that incomplete in Kamijo's version of the story, getting to see the same events play out in Railgun, I got the feels for Accelerator because I don't think his story was properly explained in Index until the very end, but in Railgun, we got to see even more of the story and he has a tragically troubled past. I feel for him. And I'm glad he finally get's Last Order to forever be his new bestie. They're perfect. And she totally makes him a bearable character.

Overall I'd rate this show 4.5 out of 5. It has good action, character development, and writing. My favorite ship throughout the anime: Misaka x Kamijo. Favorite arc: Sisters arc. Favorite character: Frenda... I don't know why though.

But yeah, watch this if you haven't. Or if you have. It's a fun time.

Sometimes Shipping Hurts

Sooo... I finally jumped on the bandwagon and read Akatsuki no Yona and let's just say that I was not disappointed. IT'S FRICKIN AMAZING! Like I seriously need more, RIGHT NOW!

The main thing that bothers me though, is that Yona is so frickin' clueless!! Obvs the hunkmeister Hak is crushin on her real hard but she refuses to see it and I've seriously had it. Every time they have a cute moment and Yona ruins it by telling Hak not to joke around I want to shake her until she realizes that he's adorable!

Is it just me or does anyone else find baby Hak adorable?? Look at that little cutie! He loved her since the beginning and it breaks my heart that he suppressed it just because he thought she would never love him the same way she did Soo-Won.

Yona laughed this off as a joke... are you f*cking kidding me?? What part of this looks like a joke?!?!?

I ship them even harder every time I see Hak getting excited by the new Yona! That's how I know it's meant to be, because he knew who she was and he loved her, and now he can see who she's becoming and if anything he loves her more!

I feel like every time Yona has a cute moment with Hak where she initiates the cuteness, some one is there to interrupt... what happened to the bro code dragons??

Look how frickin cute they are!!! I love them!

Love him! And don't pretend like you don't when you know you love him. We all know it. Soo-Won is no match for Hak! Plus I feel like she has much more fun with Hak. Just sayin'.
